New Cyclic Olefin Copolymers (Ethylene-Norbornene)

New Cyclic Olefin Copolymers (Ethylene-Norbornene)

Metallocene catalysis has opened new routes to unique polymer compositions. Among the latest developments are a family of amorphous copolymers of ethylene and norbornene, the Topas™ Cyclic Olefin Copolymers*.

These high transparency, low specific gravity, high heat resistant copolymers have excellent optical properties and superior water vapor barrier characteristics. Combined with outstanding stiffness/ strength and favorable sterilization properties, they have found applications ranging from FDA approvals for pharmaceutical and food applications to optical applications (i.e. lenses, light guide panels and films) and electronics materials. Whether used by itself or as a modifier for other resins, the ethylene-norbornene copolymer offers the optical clarity of polymethylmethacryate (pMMA), the heat resistance of polycarbonate (PC) and superior dimensional stability.

Choose your balance of properties from a range of heat deflection temperatures(HDT) and processing characteristics. Products are available in 100 gram units. Call for quotations on special unit quantities.
