Oxidase Strips
Oxidase Strips
Rapid diagnostic test for cytochrome oxidase enzyme present in Pseudomonas, Neisseria, and Campylobacter, and some other bacteria.
Oxidase Strips rapidly detect the presence of the enzyme Cytochrome Oxidase produced by a number of bacteria, including Pseudomonas, Neisseria and Campylobacter. Each Oxidase Strip is impregnated with a colourless redox dye (tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine dihydrochloride) and ascorbic acid. Oxidase positive bacteria will rapidly convert the dye to indophenol blue (deep purple) in seconds. Ascorbic acid acts as a reducing agent to prevent the autooxidation which occurs with traditional liquids. Oxidase Strips are a convenient ready-to-use oxidase test, conveniently removing the daily requirement to prepare fresh reagent.
Description: Paper strip impregnated with tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine dihydrochloride.
