Purolite® MN102, Macroporous Weak Base Adsorbent is a specially modified Macronet suitable for the efficient sorption of high molecular weight organic molecules such as limonin and narangin from a wide variety of fruit juices during the processing stage. Removal of these compounds results in the debittering of juices that would otherwise be considered unpalatable. One of the main advantages of this product is that it can in many cases be regenerated more easily than other materials due to its weak base functionality which facilitates the use of alkaline regenerants such as caustic soda. Depending on the process requirements, hot aqueous or aqueous alcohol alkaline regenerants can be used. Use of hot water and/or steam is also effective for removing organic solvents.
