JB-4 Plus is a unique polymer embedding system that gives a higher level of morphological detail than paraffin processed tissues. JB-4 Plus offers all the benefits of our regular JB-4 formulation with the additional advantages of a cooler acting accelerator and the production of clearer blocks. A clear polymer embedding matrix is essential to numerous histological and histochemical procedures, most notably in ophthalmic applications.
JB-4 Plus is a water-soluble, 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA), more commonly known as "glycol methacrylate", or GMA based, plastic resin kit intended for use in the preparation of temperature sensitive tissues. It produces harder blocks which is also ideal for dense samples, such as bone. Sections of JB-4 Plus embedded material can be cut at 0.5 to 3.0 microns or thicker. Excellent for routine stains, special stains and histochemical staining.
