Poly(trimethylene carbonate) (PTMC) is a highly amorphous, aliphatic polycarbonate in biomedical applications where a higher degree of flexibility is desired such as 3D printing flexible tissue scaffolds. Higher molecular weights denote higher degrees of rigidity. Unlike many other biodegradable polymers, PTMC is resistant to hydrolyic degradation of its ester linkages. Instead, it is more prone to surface erosion/enzymatic degradation. The ultimate byproducts of its biodegradation are CO2 and water.

Copolymers of varying monomer ratios and molecular weights enable more control over rigidity and biodegradation rate to suit specific applications. Our line of PTMC products includes the homopolymer, and copolymers with PCL, PLLA, and PDLLA.
